Create Kids Fest is an interactive, multidisciplinary festival for kids and their families that provides audiences chances to experience fine arts, explore the process of creation and participate in special moments that will be cherished for years to come. Create includes children in planning, organization and execution of the festival making it the only festival produced for kids, with kids.

Create Kids Arts Society’s Goals
- To create, develop and implement arts festivals for kids and families in Calgary. (AKA Create Kids Fest!)
- To ensure that the festivals and programs put on by Create allow children to experience the arts in a comfortable environment.
- Strive to provide art experiences that are accessible for all children in Calgary.
- To provide educational experiences for younger generations to learn about event production and art creation to develop a life-long appreciation of the arts.
- Develop opportunities for intergenerational community building, cultural awareness and emotional intelligence through art experiences.
Create Kids Fest 2020
In 2020, we held an online festival through Facebook Live, with over four thousand views! Over the course of one day on June 13, 2020, we had six performers, organized a youth showcase, and had a young artist read bedtime stories. Participants were able to paint a unicorn with Anna, dance with Puddle of Mud Productions and sing along with JUNO-nominated artist Beppie!
Create Kids Fest 2021
Create Kids Fest 2020 taught us that flexibility is key when planning a festival during a pandemic. We are following all health and safety guidelines in preparation for our 2021 festival with the hope that it can be in-person. However, we have a plan based on last year’s success to move it fully or partially online if needed.
The festival will take place at cSpace Kind Edward and will feature 100% Calgary-based artists to support the arts in our city. With a mix of theatre, music, dance and literary arts, preschool and elementary aged kids are sure to leave with a smile on their face.
Create Kids Arts Society
Create Kids Arts Society is a non-profit founded in 2019 and is comprised of passionate volunteers from Calgary’s arts and business communities.
Our focus is to connect Calgary’s families, businesses and arts organizations to foster a culture that values arts and its role in our society. We are currently seeking partnerships to help us achieve our goals in the form of financial support so we can engage with as many children as possible regardless of their socio-economic status.
Dear Calgary Community Member,
The past year has been hard on us all and I believe that the children of Calgary need art now more than ever. I have seen the powerful effect that art and music can have on a individual child and their connection to their family and community throughout my career as a performer and music educator.
In 2019, I saw a gap in our cultural fabric that could only be filled by a Children’s Festival. Create Kids Fest was born! The inaugural festival presented over 20 artists and art organizations, at two venues to the Calgary community. Family and fuss-friendly, accessible and multi-generational; the initial success of the festival sparked the creation of a non-profit society governed by a volunteer Board to expand our impact on Calgary’s families.
Our 2020 festival looked a lot different. After a successful launch party at in person at cSpace King Edward, COVID-19 forced us to cancel our live festival and replace it with an online event. It helped us reach even more kids and families to bring a stronger sense of community during a time when connection was limited.
As we move forward, Create is dedicated to providing meaningful experiences for kids though good times, pandemics and anything else the world brings our way. Please support our organization as we work to build emotional intelligence in children and acquire the skills they need to become our future citizens. Together, we can give families the opportunity to make memories and develop a stronger connection within our community.

One of the great things that has come out of the COVID-19 pandemic is the creation of an online space and the community that exists when we cannot be in the same room. Create Kids Fest 2021 Main Stage is the theatre at cSpace King Edward. As our Main Stage Sponsor, you will be providing the space that the artists share with Calgary kids and their families.
